The order of reactivity of hydrogen halides is HI>HBr>HCl. In this reaction, diethyl ethers when reacts with concentrated HI, it gives two molecules of alkyl halide. The reaction is written as follows: C2H5-O-C2H5 + 2HI ===> 2C2H5I + H2O
