Lytic cycle and lysogenic cycle are two mechanisms of the viral reproduction. In the lytic cycle, the host cell is lysed by the release of the new progeny of the virus. However, no cell lysis occurs in the lysogenic cycle. The viral DNA is integrated into the host genome in the lysogenic cycle.
