The reactions that give out large amount of heat is called exothermic reactions.
Eg:-1) Any combustion reaction.
2) During neutralisation reaction.
And the reactions which need heat for the reaction to take place is called endothermic reactions.
Eg:- 1) Melting of ice cubes.
2) Evaporation of liquid water.
