small intestine is the main unit of digestion. here the food is completely digested with the help of bile juice. blood picks up the food from small intestine to carry it to other parts of the body.

large intestine is the last unit which stores the undigested food and later disposes it off.

The Large Intestine is 1.5 meters only but the diameter is more than that of small intestine. Small Intestine digests the partially digested food completely. Digestion does not takes place in Large Intestine. The digested food is absorbed through villi into blood in the Small Intestine.
