Thorny forests occur in regions of sparse rainfall and consist mostly of cacti vegetation. The soil isn’t that fertile and is mostly red/sandy. Eg: plateau
Mangrove forests occur in deltaic regions where the soil is water-soaked. The vegetation consists of mostly tropic plants and the soil is very fertile. Eg: Sundarbans
