Astronaut and cosmonaut almost have the same meaning as far as the profession is concerned. it is because of the space race that different terms were created.
yet there are a few notable difference that Americans using the term Astronaut and Russian using the term Cosmonaut
Astronaut have two Pilots spacecraft as well as doing it servicing. they know a lot about life in space.
on the contrary , cosmonauts have to work outside the earth atmosphere. we can say an astronaut automatically becomes of cosmonaut when he or she leaves the earth's atmosphere.

they should also have 1500 hours of flight time to qualify
