Kwashiorkor is a disease which is occurred due protein-energy malnutrition. But marasmus is a disease which occurs due to protein-calorie malnutrition. In Kwashiorkor the body parts get swollen due to lack of water that make the growth of a child retarded. But in Marasmus Lack of mother's milk the bones do not get proper calcium, phosphorus and other nutrients in a right amount. As a result , the child becomes very weak and his bones become fragile. thank u

KWASHIORKOR:this is due to protein deficiency in diet. Body parts become swollen due to accumulation of Water in intercellular spaces . Very poor development of muscles ,fluffy face etc

MARASMUS:This is due to both deficiency of both proteins and calories . Generally this disease occurs when there is an immediate second pregnancy or repeated child births . they will be lean and weak and diarrhoea is the symptom
