While a metal is a solid substance, usually hard, lustrous and opaque. On the other hand, a non-metals is a solid or gaseous material, in which the metallic properties are absent.

Hope it helps

Answer :-

METALS :-

1. Metals are generally solid in nature. (except- mercury and gallium)

2. Metals (except zinc) can be beaten into thin sheets with a hammer

3. Metals are ductile that is they can be drawen into wires. (except- zinc and mercury)

4. Metals are lustrous or shiny and show brightness on exposure to light. (except- sodium and potassium)

5. Metals are generally hard. (except - sodium and potassium)

6. Metals are good conductors of heat and electricity. (except- tungsten)

7. Metals are sonorous that is they produce a characteristic sound when struck with an object. (except- mercury)

8. Metals can withstand longitudinal pull when they are in wire form. (except- zinc and mercury)

9. Metals have high melting and boiling point. (except- zinc and mercury)

10. Metals have high density. (except- sodium and potassium)

NON-METALS

1. Non-metals are generally solids or gases. (except- bromine)

2. Non-metals are not malleable. They cannot be beaten in thin sheets.

3. Non-metals are not ductile.

4. Non-metals are non-lustrous. (except- iodine and graphite)

5. Non-metals are generally soft. (except- diamond)

6. Non-metals are non-conductors of heat and electricity. (except- graphite)

7. Non-metals are non- sonorous.

8. Non-metals do not have tensile strength.

9. Non-metals have low melting and boiling points. (except- graphite)

10. Non-metals have low density. (except- iodine)
