difference among Participle n Gerund

PARTICIPLE is a verbal adjective. It describes something else in the sentence. They generally end with -en , -ed , -t or -ing like fallen, killed, slept or walking.......... GERUND is a verbal noun. It stands alone , do not describes something else in the sentence . It always end with -ing like walking , thinking etc. ...... Since -ing is used in both so to identify which is gerund and which is participle is that see whether -ing word isdescribing something else or not... Ex. of this kind----------> (1) Sleeping pills are terrible for you.( Participle)............ (2) Sleeping pills are terrible for you.( Gerund )...
