3 major differences between areolar tissue and adipose tissue are as follows -
1. Areolar tissue is basically present as the support framework. Adipose tissue is fat storing connective tissue.
2. Areolar tissue has macrophages, plasma cells and mast cells along with the fibres. Adipose tissue only has some protien fibres other than the large droplet (or small droplets as in the case of brown adipose tissue) of fats.
3. Areolar tissue is found beneath the skin. Adipose tissue is found beneath the skin, around heart, eyeballs, kidneys etc.
Hope this helps! All the best!
