When a more reactive metal reacts with the salt of a lesser reactive metal to displace it then it is known as displacement reaction . if the reactants inter change ions then the reaction is known as double displacement reaction.

In displacement reaction only one atom is displaced by other but in double displacement reaction all the atoms are interchanged.
