DISPLACEMENT REACTION: The reaction in which high reactive metal displace the low reactive metal.

example - CuSO4 + Fe --- FeSO4 + Cu
(blue) (black) (green) (reddishbrown)

Fe is more reactive metal than the Cu because fe displace the Cu.

DOUBLE DISPLACEMENT REACTION : The reaction in which two different atoms or group of atoms are mutually exchanged.

example - Na2SO4 + BaCl2 --- 2NaCl + BaSO4

A white substance is formed in above reaction. the insoluble substance. BaSO4 is called white precipitate.
