1) Hatch pathway is also called C4 cycle. Calvin cycle is also called C3 cycle.

2) C4 cycle occurs in C4 plants that have leaves with a special krenz anatomy.

The bundle sheath cells have Rubisco enzyme and mesophyll cells don't.

In contrast, C3 plants have Rubisco enzyme in Mesophyll cells.

3) The process begins in the mesophyll cells in both types of plants.

But in C4 plants, when (a C4 acid) malic/aspartic acid is formed, they are transported to bundle sheath cells where they are broken down to a C3 acid and Co2. The C3 acid enters Calvin cycle, because they have rubisco.

In C4 plants, two process are divided in that they take place in two different tissues.

In C3 plants, the entire process occurs in mesophyll cells itself.

Co2 + RuBP + Rubisco (Ribulose Biphosphate carboxylase) fixes 2PGA(Phosphoglycerate)

Here, Carbon fixation occurs in the night and Calvin cycle during the day. They are separated in time.

4) Rubisco is an enzyme that has both carboxylase and oxylase activity. Hence, it is very important to maintain co2 levels relatively higher than O2 levels.

In C4 plants, this need is met when C4 breaks down to C3 and Co2. This Co2 in Bundlesheath cells promotes the activity of Rubisco as Carboxylase.

But in C3 plants, there is no such possibility due to which they undergo a wasteful process called photorespiration where Rubisco acts as Oxylase.

The two types of plants have different capacities of response to light, temp etc.
