Sketches are layouts of an intended action particularly refers to drawings, that usually have fewer details and are not considered as final drafts.

Plans on the other hand, are systematic layout of ideas in a step by step manner that indicates activities to be carried out in their order. Plans are detailed and refer to the final draft someone has on something (may also be a drawing).

A sketch is only a rough drawing of an area. It is mainly based on memory and spot observation and not to scale.

While, a plan is a drawing of a small area on the large-scale. It is always drawn actually with correct seals. Hence it helps us to calculate the distance on map accurately .
