let the digits of two digit number number be " x " and "y"

let the tens digit of original number be " x "

and unit digit be " y "

original number = 10x + y

number after interchanging its digits

= 10y + x

difference

( 10x + y ) - ( 10y + x ) = 36

10x + y - 10y - x = 36

9x - 9y = 36

9( x- y ) = 36/9

x - y = 4
