Explanation:

Acids:-

●An acid is any chemical compound once dissolved in water produces a solution with H2 ion activity more than purified water.

●It relies on the concentration of the hydronium ions.

●eg:-acetic acid and sulphuric acid

●Acid depends upon the temperature. It would look solid, liquid or in the form of gas. It would also have a sour taste.

●It turns blue litmus paper into red.

●Those compounds whose chemical formula begins with H are acids , eg:-HCl

●PH scale is less than 7

● As a phenolphthalein it remains colourless.

●Used as preservatives, fertilizers, processing leather, household cleaning, etc.

Basis:-

● A base is an aqueous substance that absorbs hydrogen ions.

●It relies on the hydroxide ions.

● eg:-sodium hydroxide and ammonia.

●Bases are slippery and solid in nature . it has a bitter taste.

●It turns red litmus into blue.

●Those compounds whose chemical formula ends with OH are bases, eg:- KOH.

●PH scale is greater than 7 .

● As a phenolphthalein indicator it gives pink colour.

●Used as antacids, soap, detergent and cleanser.

Acid is a kind of chemical compound that when dissolved in water gives a solution with H+ ion activity more than purified water. A base is an aqueous substance that donates electrons, accept protons or release hydroxide (OH-) ions. An acid is a proton donor. While a base is a proton acceptor.
