Aeroplane and helicopter both travel through the air, they have very different characteristics and purposes.
Airplanes are designed to travel long distances quickly between airports made for this purpose.
A helicopter generates lift simply by spinning it's rotors very rapidly, it does not need to be moving in order to generate lift.
