Difference between age of a and b is 16 years. Before 6 years age of elder one was 3 times the age of younger one. What is the present age of younger one?

a-b=16 years ..... 1st equation

and according to second line of question,

(a-6) =(b-6) *3

3b-a=12

now putting the value of a with the help of first equation, a=(16+b)

then, 3b-(16+b)=12

2b=28

or, b=14

and a= 16+14

a=30

So, the present age of younger one is 14.
