1)This is a rich and fertile soil formed by the depositional action of rivers.Rivers transport eroded material from their higher reaches and deposit this material on their banks as they reach the plains.
2)This fertile soil supports cultivation of crops.
3)In India,we can find rich deposits of this soil in the cast Indo-Gangetic plains and the deltaic regions of peninsular belt.
