Alluvial soil is the most widely spread and important soil inside the entire Northern Plains are made up of Alluvial soil please have been deposited by three important Himalayan River system the Indus river Ganga and Brahmaputra. it is also extend in Rajasthan and Gujarat through a narrow corridor .Alluvial soil is also found in the eastern coastal plains particularly in the deltas of Mahanadi Godavari and Krishna and Kaveri river. in cell consists of various proportion of sand silt and clay .

recently developed on crystalline igneous rocks in areas of low rainfall in the eastern and southern part of the Deccan Plateau yellow and red soil are also found in parts of Odisha Chhattisgarh southern part of the middle Ganga Plains and also the time zone of Western Ghats this all developed due to diffusion of iron in crystalline and Metamorphic rock it looks yellow when it occurs in hydrated form
