That takes me back a few years;I didn't think they made oscilloscope lke that anymore
As I recall, in old analog 2_channel CRT oscilloscope ,ALT cause the beam to alternate, between the two input channels every trigger while CHOP switches rapidly between the two inputs. So you would use ALT to looks at high frequency signals and CHOP for low frequency ones,assuming you had a nice regular trigger and a simple wave form. If you use chop at high frequency think you can see the chop signal itself.
