amoebiasis = is also known as Amoebic dysentery

  1. it caused by an intestinal endoparasite, Entamoeba histolytica, found in large intestine of human
  2. housefly act as mechanical carriers and transmit the parasite from faeces of infected person to the food

Filariasis= is also known as Elephantiasis

  • it is caused by filarial worm , Wunchereria bancrofti and wunchereria malayi
  • female Culex mosquito is a vector

  • blockage of lymph vessels of lower limbs resulting in swelling
  • lower limbs appear like legs of elephants
  • genital organ may be also be affected leading to deformation
