The difference between plant cell and animal cell are listed below –

Plant Cell

  • A plant cell is surrounded by a rigid cell wall.

  • Presence of a large vacuole is seen in plant cells.

  • Larger in size.

  • Plant cells have plastids.

  • Centrosomes are absent in plant cells.

  • Plant cells do not have cilia.

  • Lysosomes are very rare in plant cells.

Animal Cell

  • An animal cell does not have a cell wall.

  • Whereas there are very small vacuoles as compared to plant cells are seen in animal cells.

  • Smaller in size.

  • Animal cells do not have plastids.

  • Animal cells have centrosomes.

  • Animal cells have cilia.

  • Animal cells have lysosomes.

Animal cell

  • It is devoid of a cell wall.
  • Are irregular or spherical in shape.
  • There are centrosomes and centrioles present.
  • Plastids are not present.
  • Vacuoles are usually tiny, however they can also be nonexistent.
  • Cilia can be found in the majority of animal cells.
  • Mitochondria can be found in large numbers.
  • Heterotrophic nutrition is the mode of nutrition.
  • A single Golgi apparatus is present, which is highly complex and conspicuous.

Plant cell

  • It is made up of a cellulose cell wall that is located outside the cell membrane.
  • Are rectangular or square in shape.
  • There are no centrosomes or centrioles.
  • Plastids can be found.
  • Vacuoles are little or single vacuoles that are located in the center of the cell
  • Cilia is not present.
  • Mitochondria are present, although in less numbers.
  • The primary mode of nourishment is autotrophic.
  • There are many dictyosomes, which are smaller Golgi apparatus units.
