Antibiotics are natural substances made by fungi, living beings, to protect themselves against bacteria, some later combined with other substances, or chemically modified to obtain certain naturally not present effects, e.g. killing more kinds of bacteria, chemotherapeutics see Overview of Chemotherapeutics are made synthetically by chemists, e.g. sulfas see Sulfonamide (medicine), inhibiting but not killing bacteria and Ledipasvir/sofosbuvir against viruses, but the term is also used for drugs that are used to kill cancer cells see
