The material evidences which include numismatics, artifacts, inscriptions etc are known as archaeological sources. On the other hand written evidences especially in the form of chronicles, biographies, autobiographies, travelogues etc are known as Literary evidences.
Archaeological sources are very old and cover more than 99% of human history while as literary sources are new ones and cover less than 1% of man's history.
Archaeological sources are unbiased and unprejudiced while as literary sources are mostly biased and do not represent true picture of events.
