Arteries carry blood from the heart to the rest of the body, whereas veins carry blood from the rest of the body back to the heart. Almost all arteries carry oxygenated blood and almost all veins carry deoxygenated blood. ... Arteries have a thick elastic muscle layer, whereas the muscle layer for veins is much thinner.

abuzargour2002: Arteries are thick walled whereas viens are thin walled. Arteries carry oxygenated blood except pulmonary artery and viens carry deoxygenated blood except pulmonary viens.

Artries:

  1. Arties carries Oxygenated blood from heart to body except Pulmonary artery, which carries deoxygenated blood from heart to lungs for purification.
  2. They are deep-seated inside the body.
  3. They are thick -walled as they have to carry blood in more presure from the Heart.
  4. Valves are not present in arteries.

Veins:

  1. Veins carries De-Oxygenated  blood body to heart except for Pulmonary vein, which carries oxygenated blood from lungs to heart to supply it to body parts through Aorta.
  2. They are Superficial.
  3. They are thin walled as there is no more pressure of blood inside veins.
  4. Valves are present in veins to prevent backflow of blood.
