However, chemical fertilizers are often tailored to specific plant types, or for a specific purpose, such as accelerated growth. The N-P-K ratio of liquid and water-soluble crystal fertilizers vary in solid granules, pellets and plant spikes. Fertilizers with an N-P-K ratio in which the three numbers are equal, such as 10-10-10 or 12-12-12, or in which nitrogen is slightly bigger, are considered all-purpose chemical fertilizers. Certain N-P-K ratios may be common for flowers and another for lawns, and yet another ratio will be common for vegetables.
