The complex food is converted into simple molecules in the digestive system. these simple molecules are absorbed in intestine. Absorption is taking simple molecules into blood stream or lymph which are produced as a result of digestion . Assimilation is preparing new compounds from the absorbed simple molecules into complex molecules. which are necessary for cell functioning.
