The autonomic neural system or nervous system controls and coordinates the involuntary (the part of the bodies which are not in our will and fully stabilised control) activities of various organs. This system is autonomous in the sense that it regulates such activities of the body in which the will power of the animal is not activated and is definitely not involved, e.g., the secretion of the digestive fluid is always under the control of autonomic nervous system but the animal is not aware about it, ask yourself, can you do that? Of course not. The autonomic nervous or neural system is divisible into two parts: sympathetic neural system and parasympathetic neural system..

The peripheral nervous or neural system are originating from the central nervous system itself and connect either to the receptor organs or the effector organs (depending upon the nature of its working), they subsequently form the peripheral neural or nervous system. Those nerves which arise from the brain are called as cranial nerves while the nerves originating from the spinal cord are termed as spinal nerves.
