AUTOTROPHIC NUTRITION
1) it means that the organism prepare its own food and is not dependent on any other organism.
2) food is prepared from co2 ,water,sunlight.
3) green plants and certain bacteria have autotrophic mode of nutrition
HETEROTROPHIC NUTRITION
1) it means that the organism does not prepare its own food and dependent on other organism for food.
2) food cannot be prepared from co2 ,water, sunlight
3) all the animals and fungi, most bacteria have heterotrophic mode of nutrition

AUTOTROPHIC MODE OF NUTRITION
- It occurs in green plants, some bacteria and in some protists.
- Chlorophyll is necessary for trapping solar energy.
- Food is self manufactured by the organisms using carbon dioxide and water and raw material.
- Digestion of food does not occur.
- They are placed at the bottom of the food chain as producers.
- Examples - plants, blue green algae, and cyanobacteria.
HETEROTROPHIC MODE OF NUTRITION
- It occurs in fungi and animals.
- Chlorophyll is absent hence, they do not trap solar energy.
- Food is obtained directly or indirectly by the organisms autotrophs.
- Digestion is required to convert complex organic substances present in food into simpler and soluble forms.
- They are places above producers in the middle of the food chain as consumers.
- Examples - all animals including human beings.
