Aves or the birds have characteristic features that make them very different from reptiles. A creature known as the 'Archaeopteryx' is the evolutionary link between the species of these two classes.

Aves have hollow bones that facilitates flight(but there are exceptions) and they are warm-blooded organisms. They can regulate their temperature irrespective of their surrounding. Birds have a four chambered heart as well ( two auricles and two ventricles that seperate oxygenated and deoxygenated blood). The forelimbs of birds are modified into wings and they have an exoskeleton of feathers.

Reptiles on the other hand are cold blooded creatures, they change their temperature according to their surrounding. Reptiles have a three chambered heart (except for a crocodile which has four) and they have limbs for locomotion( except snakes which don't have any limbs). Rough scales cover their body.

Despite the differences, both classes are oviparous, that is they lay eggs.
