Differences between Bacteria and Cyanobacteria. Cyanobacteria is also known as blue-green algae. They differ from other bacteria in that cyanobacteria possess chlorophyll-a, while most bacteria do not contain chlorophyll. Chlorophyll-a gives them their characteristic blue-greencolor.
