Balois are wells and ponds which have staircases to reach them. Spread all over India, they were built in ancient times in order to provide an easy and an efficient way for women of the time to collect water for various purposes.
As they are spread over a wide area, there are stark differences present depending on the location

For example, the Baolis found in Delhi were mostly opulent and open in nature, while the ones built in Gujarat were closed and shaded with proper roofs to provide security and cool.
Many balois in Delho have distinct muslim/mughal architecture
