Richmond,Virginia,served as the capital of the Confederate states of America for almost the whole of the American civil war.Not only was Richmond the seat of political power for Confederacy,it served as source of munitions,arment,weapons,supplies& manpower for the Confederate States Army and Confederate States Navy while Gettysburg is considered the most important engagement of the American Civil War whereby brimming with confidence,Lee decided to go on the offensive and invade the North for second time.
