Substances which can be decomposed and broken down to simpler substances by micro-organisms acting on it is called bio-degradable

Eg : wood ,egg shell

Substances which cannot be acted upon by microorganisms and are not broken down into simpler substances are called non-biodegradable

eg : plastic , metals
