Substances which can be broken down into simpler substances by microorganism like bacteria is called biodegradable substances

For ex. Paper , vegetable and human excreta

Non biodegradable substances

Substances which can not be broken down into simpler and harmless substances are called non biodegradable substances

For ex. Plastic and DDT
