Difference between biological and chemical fixation of nitrogen

Nitrification is the biological oxidation of ammonia with oxygen into nitrite followed by the oxidation of these nitrites into nitrates - carried out in soil by the action of nitrifying bacteria on decaying organic matter.

Chemical fixation of nitrogen is due to the lightening which change nitrogen into nitrates ,whereas, Biological fixation of nitrogen is due to the ribozium present in the root nodules.
