Black soil
- It has excessive presence of humus in it.
- Black soil is found in the central, western and southern states of India.
- Cotton can be grown in black soil.
Sandy soil
- It lacks humus and does it is not fertile.
- It is mainly found in Himalayan region, Sikkim, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, and also in Penninsular India, Eastern Ghats.
- Vegetable root crops like carrots, parsnips and potatoes favour sandy soils.
