BROILERS 
Meant for meats purposes. 
Fed lot of vitamins like K and Calcium.
Need adequate lighting and healthy conditions. 
Can be utilised after 6-8 weeks after birth.
LAYERS 
Meant for lay in eggs.
 Fed adequate roughage. 
Need healthy clean and not overcrowded conditions. 
Can be used after 20 weeks i.e when the attain sexual maturity.

An egg laying poultry is called egger or layer whereas broilers are reared for obtaining meat. So a layer should be able to produce more number of large sized eggs, without growing too much. On the other hand, a broiler should yield more meat and hence should be able to grow well
