In Hydra, the cells divide rapidly at a speci{ic site and develop as an outgrowth called a bud. ... In the Bryophyllum the leaves have small buds (as in potato). These buds later convert into small and very small plants which also have roots present on them

The following is the difference between budding in potato and budding in bryophyllum:

  • Budding in potato - The buds on the potato or the eyes are the indication of the growth of a new plant. If exposed to the right conditions the bud can grow into a full stem and further into a whole potato plant.
  • Budding in bryophyllum - The buds of the bryophyllum grow on the edge of the leaves. When these buds fall on the soil and under adequate conditions can grow into a full-grown plant.
