Anode is the electrode in which current flows INTO from the outside, and the cathode is the electrode that it flows FROM (to the outside). Electrons, of course, flow the opposite way. In electrochemistry, the anode is where oxidation occurs and cathode is where reduction occurs ("an ox red cat").
