Difference between cause-effect and stimulus-response

This is the way i see it and may not be accurate. 

Cause and Effect... Example: Get shot in the head, you will die regardless. No depending, that effect had to happen. 
Stimulus and response... Example: Get shot in the leg and your death will depend on how you body reacts or how much you can handle. So the effect may vary.
