If the fluid enters the compressor axially, i.e. parallel to axis of shaft, flows along the same line and discharge is also along the same line, then its called axial compressor.
If the fluid enters axially, but flow direction changes to perpendicular direction (radial) and final discharge is radial, its called centrifugal compressor.
If the fluid enters axially, but flow direction changes to perpendicular direction (radial) and final discharge is radial, its called centrifugal compressor.
