Answer:

In a physical change the appearance or form of the matter changes but the kind of matter in the substance does not. However in a chemical change, the kind of matter changes and at least one new substance with new properties is formed. The distinction between physical and chemical change is not clear cut.

Answer:-

Differences between Physical and Chemical change are:-

▫ Physical Change ▫

  • A physical change brings about changes only in the physical properties of the substance such as physical state, shape, size, etc.

  • No new substance is formed in a physical change.

  • It is a temporary change.

  • Physical change can be easily reversed.

  • There is no change in chemical composition of the substance.

  • During a physical change, energy change may or may not be observed.

▫ Chemical Change ▫

  • A chemical change brings about changes in chemical properties of the substance.

  • New substances are formed during the chemical change.

  • It is a permanent change.

  • Chemical change cannot be reversed.

  • There is always a change in the chemical composition of the substance.

  • During a chemical change, energychange (evolution or absorption of heat, light, etc) always occurs.
