Chloroplasts:

 These contain chlorophyll and carotenoids pigments which are responsible for trapping light energy essential for photosynthesis.

 These are regarded as “kitchen of cell” as they are sites of photosynthesis.

Chromoplasts:

 These contain carotenoids pigments like carotene, xanthophylls etc.

 These pigments impart colour to fruits and flowers.

 Colours of flowers attract insects which help in pollination.

Leucoplasts:

 These are colourless plastids with stored nutrients.

Amyloplasts store carbohydrates like starch, e.g., potato.

Elaioplasts store oils and fats, e.g., seeds of castor and mustard etc.

Aleuroplasts store proteins, e.g., seeds of pulses.
