Circular motion is almost always a periodic motion.

Circular motion is where the object travels in a path which is circular -can be a full circle, can be a part of the circle.

Periodic motion is where the object repeats its motion after a particular time. Therefore when an object isuniformly moving in a circle and it completes360 degrees, it repeats itself. So It is a periodic motion.

Similarly in the case of a simple pendulum.

The pedulum oscillates in a part of a circle, but repeats its motion after its time period.

A fan revolving is also both circular and periodic.

Now in a periodic motion, we cannot always take the amplitude into account and solve the physics regarding it. So it is quite easy to represent an oscillation (one cycle) as one rotation in an imaginary (just imagine any arbitrary circle) circle. So if there are n oscillations it will be equivalent to n rotations in that imaginary circle.
