The difference between the cisternae

and the cristae:

1. The cisternae is a flattened membrane

disk which the Golgi apparatus and the

endoplasmic reticulum is made up of. On

the other hand a Cristae is a fold in the

inner membrane of the mitochondrion.

2. A Golgi stack may constitute between

3 to 20 cisternae but majority only

contain around six. The four class of

Golgi include trans, trans-Golgi network,

cis and medial. A cristae gives the

inner membrane of the mitochondrion

membrane its signature wrinkled shape,

whic is meant to provide a large amount

of surface area for the chemical reactions

to take place.

3. Every cisternae class includes different

enzymes which are active within it. On

the other hand the cristae contains

proteins which include ATP synthase and

a range of cytochromes.
