Difference between closed circulation and open circulation

Here are some points on open type circulation pathway:-

1. Here in this type of pathway, Heart pumps blood through large vessels into blood spaces called as blood sinuses.

2. The tissues are in direct contact with the circulating fluid.

3. It is less advantageous pathway.

4. Open circulatory pathway is present in arthropods, molluscs etc.

Here are some points on closed circulatory pathway:-

1. Blood is pumped by heart into closed network of blood vessels.

2. Tissues are not present in direct contact with the circulating fluid.

3. It more advantageous than open type circulation system.

4. Closed circulatory system present in annelida, chordates etc .

• In the open circulation, the blood is not enclosed in the blood vessels and is pumped into a cavity called hemocoel. On the contrary, in the closed circulation, the blood is pumped through the vessels separate from the interstitial fluid of the body.
