Co-factor:
It is the non-protein substance or group which gets attached to the enzyme.It is essential for functioning. It may be organic or inorganic or metallic cofactor
.Prosthetic group:
 It is the non-protein part or group which gets attached to the open enzyme. Some prosthetic groups have metals.

PROSTHETIC GROUPS:-

These are non protein organic cofactors which get firmly attached to apoenzyme to form holoenzyme e.g heme, biotin, pyridoxal phosphate.

COFACTORS:-

◑ These are small, heat stable, non protein, inorganic and organic dialysable parts of conjugate enzymes. Inorganic Cofactors is generally a metal. Organic Cofactors can be coenzyme or prosthetic group.
