A coordinate clause has a meaning and is independent of the rest of the sentence. For eg. the result was declared and she got the first prize.
While a compound sentence has atleast two independent clauses joined by a comma, semicolon or conjunction. For eg. she has the capacity to do the project, she can go for it.
Hope this helps.
